Pelvic Health Physiotherapy

Pelvic health physiotherapy is a specialist branch of physiotherapy focusing on all disorders concerning the pelvis and pelvic floor. There is growing evidence to show that therapeutic treatment can improve and resolve symptoms. Sarah, our specialist pelvic health physiotherapist can guide you through a tailored assessment and treatment according to your needs.

Sarah treats women with the following conditions:

  • Mild to moderate pelvic organ prolapse

  • Overactive bladder (e.g sudden urgency to pass urine, going more often, leaking with an urge to pass urine)

  • Stress urinary incontinence (e.g leaking with a cough, sneeze, exercise)

  • Coccydynia (painful coccyx)

  • Faecal incontinence

  • Pregnancy related pelvic girdle pain

  • Post natal pelvic girdle pain

  • Post natal pelvic floor check and exercise advice.

  • Diastasis recti abdominis – separation of tummy muscles

You will be offered an internal examination during your first appointment to more reliably assess how your pelvic floor muscle is functioning and how strong it is. Although this is advised, it is not compulsory and you are entitled to decline this. This can be discussed in more depth at your appointment with Sarah.
